Occupational Therapy

Our dedicated team of qualified Occupational Therapists can carry out multiple services depending on an individual’s needs.

Assistive Technology

We can source devices or systems that allow individuals to perform tasks or increases the ease and safety with which tasks can be performed. After prescribing assistive technology, we provide ongoing training and support to ensure safety and independence.

Driving School

The OT Group is a registered NDIS & TAC provider offering Driver Training with tailored driving lessons for participants across Victoria.

Falls Prevention Education

Falls and Falls Related injuries are amongst the most serious medical problems experienced by all age groups. The OT Group provide a variety of Falls Prevention strategies and education to prevent the reduce the number of accidental falls, and increase the safety and independence of our clients.

Home Care Package Assessments

We support individuals who have been provided with a budget to have their homes assessed by an OT. We also complete trials and provide recommendations for home modifications and assistive technology like beds, recliners, kitchen aids.

Home Safety Assessments

We will assess if any changes need to be made to your existing housing with the purpose of facilitating improved safety and independence.


Mobility Scooter Assessments

Our OTs are able to administer the Powered Mobility Device Assessment Training Tool (PoMoDATT) and provide recommendations for mobility scooters to assist with community access and independence.

Pressure Care Assessment

We use a variety of tools to review a person’s risk of pressure injury and provide recommendations to protect skin integrity and prevent wounds.

Sequential-Oral-Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding

SOS feeding approach is an evidenced based intervention designed to support children who are 'fussy' and 'picky' eaters. The service includes assessment, therapy and capacity building components. Therapy sessions explore sensory exposure techniques to build your child's capacity to be exposed to an array of foods from different nutrients groups. Available only in the Bendigo area.

Transport Training

We support clients to navigate their community and negotiate public transportation to improve their independence and use buses, trams and trains.

Wheelchair and Seating Assessments

Prescription of wheelchairs or other seating systems allows us to support a client’s mobility and independence in their day to day life. This can include complex postural supports and powered wheelchairs.

Bed and Mattress Assessments

Clients with mobility issues who need support with transfers in and out of bed may benefit from an adjustable bed. Our OTs consider factors such as, pressure relieving qualities and method of transfer to ensure safety.

Eligibility Reassessment

Our therapists can provide reports to assist with requests from NDIS to provide evidence of continued eligibility and maintain funding.

Functional Capacity Assessments

We determine a person's current level of independence in all aspects of daily life, such as personal care, domestic tasks and community participation and access. We then make recommendations for ongoing therapy and intervention to increase the participant's independence with everyday tasks and achieve their goals.

Minor
Home Modifications

We provide recommendations for minor adjustments to a person’s home environment to increase their safety and independence. Common modifications include grab rails, ramps and banister rails.

Medico-legal Assessment & Report Writing

Our OTs have extensive experience in medico-legal assessment and report writing; providing expert opinions and comprehensive reports relating to functional capacity and the impact of disability on everyday function. When required, we will also attend tribunal hearings.

Paediatrics

We focus on helping children develop the skills they need to grow into functional, independent adults. We support children to address challenges associated with sensory, motor, social and emotional development which can impact a child's ability to perform everyday tasks, engage in meaningful activities and perform at school.

SDA Assessments

We complete assessments for people who require housing, which includes reviewing the requirements of a house to cater for participants' extreme functional impairment, or very high support needs.

SIL Assessments

Our OTs focus on assessing the skills of each individual to live as independently as possible. This includes providing advice and recommendations on possible assistance with and/or supervision of daily tasks either in the home or in a shared living environment.

Vehicle Modifications

Our Driver Trained OTs work collaboratively with our driving instructors to train our clients to be safe and independent with the use of high-tech assistive technology, enabling independence through mobility.

Daily Activity Training

Our OTs are able to support development of skills to assist with day to day activities such as cooking, laundry, personal care and sleep hygiene.

Ergonomic Assessments

We complete ergonomic assessments which involves assessment of a person at their workstation to ensure optimal working postures and ergonomic work practices and correct workstation set-up.

Functional Independence Measure (FIM)

We have a number of FIM registered clinicians who are qualified to provide a Functional Independence Measure rating. This assessment considers a variety of factors under both motor and cognitive domains and delivers a score based on a person’s activity limitation.

Complex
Home Modifications​

Our OTs have additional nationally recognised qualifications in providing recommendations for complex home modifications (CPPACC4020 and CPPACC5016). Complex modifications typically require structural or significant changes such as bathroom or kitchen modifications.

Mental Health Services

We provide mental health services to clients of all ages living in the community with a mental illness. Our priority is to empower individuals to achieve their goals, experience optimal mental health and live meaningful and fulfilling lives. Services are tailored specifically to individuals’ needs and adopt a recovery-oriented approach to assist our clients achieve their full potential.

Pain Management

We help our clients to live and function productively within the context of chronic pain. Our OTs evaluate the functional impact of pain on a client's everyday tasks and use evidence-based therapeutic approaches to address client goals and enhance quality of life.

Sensory Assessments

Our team will complete functional and sensory assessments as well as Sensory Profile 2 assessments with a focus on goal setting and planning intervention strategies for ongoing OT support. A Sensory Profile Assessment provides a standardised tool in which to evaluate a person’s sensory processing patterns in the context of home, school and community-based activities.

State-wide Equipment Program (SWEP)

Our therapists are registered with SWEP to complete applications for funding for individuals who meet the eligibility criteria as determined by SWEP.

Vineland

The Vineland Adaptive Behaviour Scale assesses functional skills in the domains of communication, daily living skills and socialisation. The Vineland can assist with applications for funding in schools and provide supporting evidence for diagnoses of intellectual disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.
